Toni Ribas is a sexual animal and he’s found his natural habitat in porno. He’s one of Private’s most popular directors and actors, and he’s the mastermind behind the hot new concept of High Intensity Sex, which combines realistic gonzo-style sex with high production values. His movie Ibiza Sex Party won an award for ‘Best Spanish Movie 100% Sex’ at FICEB 2007.

The following is a translated version of an interview originally published in Primera Linea, a Spanish-language news source for porno.

How long have you been working with Private?

I’ve been working 10 years with Private. The first movie I made was Amanda’s Diary, which was produced by John Millerman.

Tell us how you began working in porno.

When I was 18 years old I wanted to be independent and earn my own living. I saw an advert in Primera Má [Spanish classified paper], where I found they were looking for girls who were ready to work in porno, although this didn’t stop me from calling them and presenting myself as a porno actor. I was lucky because at that moment they needed a (porn) actor to shoot a movie and they called me one Sunday morning to go and do a scene.

Were you very nervous when they called you?

No, I didn’t have time to really start getting nervous. It all went so fast that I couldn’t even imagine all that I was going to do. It was three scenes of oral sex; it all came naturally.

Have you worked for many producers?

Yes, I have worked in almost all the countries of the world for different producers like Red Light District as producer/director. I also workd with Antonio Adamo the Private Penthouse Series. I also directed movies for Elegant Angel and Patrick Colins which was a great experience, by the way. The United States is great for working in the porno industry. There are more possibilities for becoming famous (as a porno actor). I worked with Andrew Blake, Vivid, Playboy. I was even on the cover of Playgirl… I did “gonzo” with, for example, Evil Angel and Zero Tolerance.

In Europe I have worked as producer/director for Private, of course, but also for companies like Marc Dorsel, Marios Salieri and Joe D’Amato. In Spain I worked for three years in Bagdad [a world-renowned sex club in Barcelona] as part of their erotic show. Yes, I have worked a lot in all parts of the world and of course I travel a lot now working for Private. The shoots are in almost all the countries of the world.

Ibiza Sex Party 2 for Private just came out. It is a luxurious movie shot in Ibiza with mansions and fabulous sunsets, shot outside. Where do you find those mansions?

I usually go some months before, together with my production team, in order to scout locations. It’s a really well -structured island. People are already used to offering their sevices by renting out their houses. In the house where the movie was shot, the owners live throughout the year in the bungalow which is next to the house, since [the house] is rented out year-round for shoots. The advantage is that in Ibiza one always finds solutions for everything, you can rent all kinds of housing and, most important of all, it’s negotiable.

How do you find the girls for the castings?

I work with agencies on the global level, especially with Eastern countries. Private has the Private Sex Auditions series where I interview promising girls that afterwards work for all the Private directors. It’s like scouting for young, pretty girls with personality. It’s part of my job.

Has an actress ever fallen in love with you?

I hope so, ha ha ha!

What is most important, a girls who is physically perfect or an explosive girl who is very sexual?

Of course the girls are pretty and fantastic, but it always has to be together with personality. They are always the most beautiful as possible, and … with good attitudes.

Always the most important is that there is real desire [to do this]. If the personalities click and there is chemistry between [the actors], you see that reflected in the movie.

Have you ever had the desire to do a casting outside of work? For example, when you encounter a beautiful girl in a disco or on the beach.

Girls are always selected in a professional manner. Obviously if one day you find an extraordinary girl and you see her potential to work well and if the moment is right, you can ask.

Do you have time to party when you are shooting in Ibiza?

No, the truth is that we almost never party when we are shooting. We have a pretty strict work schedule and we work a lot of hours one after the other, because we have to take advantage of the daylight. We also travel a lot. However, the last day of the shoot we always have a wrap party with all the girls.

What camera techniques do you use to capture the colours of the water and the sky in Ibiza Sex Party 2?

We work with a cameraman who comes from the world of cinema and television, so he knows how to apply lots of innovative techniques and ways of shooting. The lighting they use when they shoot is very important, for example, in the first ‘Sex Party’, with the very beautiful play of blue and white colours.
