Juan Carlos Villalobos is the immensely talented director of Private’s latest blockbuster, Jason Colt: the Mystery of the Sexy Diamonds. This epic production took a year and a half to make, and features the most visually stunning scenery ever seen in a porn movie. The ultimate thrill ride, it combines the action-packed adventures of a 007-style agent with explosive sex scenes.

Juan Carlos Villalobos’ career at Private began earlier this decade with a vignette called Elements, starring Bobbi Eden. Anybody watching his work – six vignettes and one feature so far - will notice that something special is happening. Rich tapestries of colour, dense imagery, high contrast photography, complex soundscapes - this is porno unlike any you have ever seen. Hi Juan Carlos, tell us a little bit about yourself. Like, where are you from and where are you now?

Well, I like to consider myself a citizen of the world! I can be one month in New York, the week after in London and in two days shooting something in Asia. Currently I’m working on a Christmas ad campaign in Europe.

Oliver Sanchez in a bar

A couple weeks ago I ran into Oliver Sanchez at FICEB 07. I asked him for a quick interview and he said he would if we could leave the noisy confines of FICEB, so we walked across the street to a somewhat less-noisy bar. With a group of porn actresses sitting nearby and two coffees in front of us, we launched into the following interview. Find out about him and his latest movie, Private Sports Instructor.

So, Oliver, let’s start with the standard question. Where are you from and what makes you do what you do?

I’m French, but I live in Barcelona now with my wife, Priva. Porn for me is pleasure more than a job, so I feel very fortunate. I have a job that I really enjoy.

You’ve been in porno two decades already …

Yes, that sure says more than anything that I like what I do! Being older doesn’t effect my job opportunities either, because many porn consumers are men in their forties and porn is about selling fantasies. They want to see someone their age with beautiful young women.
