You’ve seen his tattooed back hovering over a video camera, you’ve seen him in Moiré(*)Candy’s movies for Private, but what you might not know is that he is also the screenplay writer for almost all of Moiré(*)Candy’s movies. Kole Kerr aka JC Sonogod (his porn actor name) sat down for a quick interview on the last day of a three week shoot in Ibiza, where he was working as a cameraman. While Suzie Carina and Keana Moiré were splashing around in a pool a few metres away we talked over cigarettes …

Where are you from, and what did you do before all this madness?

I’m Canadian. I lived in L.A. for six years where I acted in commercials and other stuff …

No porno?

Well, I did donate sperm.

I see the relation, kind of. How did you start in the biz?

I’ve been involved in porno since about 2002. I’d been living overseas doing all kinds of odd jobs and one day I found myself working as bike messenger in Budapest. I met Max Candy and decided to give it a shot. I mean I’ve always wanted to be in a porno movie. It’s strange but I’m not - nor ever have been - a porno consumer. But I always wanted to be in a porno.

It’s better to live it than to watch it, I guess! Tell us about you first time.

Ufff. I was nervous as hell and couldn’t get it up! The next times went better. It depends on the headspace you’re in and how you get along with the chicks.

Any secrets?

I’ve heard all kinds of things. I’ve heard about viagra … some guys need to look at magazines before. I know of one guy who needs to look at porn on a laptop and then run in to do the cumshot!

Your secrets?

… that’s a secret …

Camera work? How did you go from acting to camera work?

It’s something I also wanted to do from the beginning. I learned under Max and Louis. What can I say? I’m in good hands.

Besides camera work and performing, you’ve also written almost all the scripts for the Moiré(*)Candy team. Tell us about that.

Yup, I first got involved the writing process during the making of Kill Thrill. I fleshed out all the dialogue on that, and actually wrote scenes on set. That’s the nature of the business, sometimes you got to improvise with what you got. That actually won the FICEB award for best script and I’m quite proud of that!

It seems a bit odd to be talking about the scripts for porno movies! But it is obviously a very important factor in the movies you’ve made with Max and Louis. What sets your porn stories apart from the others?

We try to incorporate the sex into the story, rather than the other way around. It’s not like watching remake of a Hollywood movie with sex thrown in. It’s an important part of the story.

And what about your influences?

I come from a punk rock background …

I can tell!

Louis, who is also a huge part of the creative push in all the movies, comes from a goth background. We are always pushing for harder and darker. We also try to bring class - if you can call it that - to porn movies.

Funny you don’t mention any porn influences.

Nope. Not really.

What about Little Red, your latest collaboration with Max and Louis? What’s that all about?

It’s a part of a concept I came up with, taking classic fairytales and adapting them to porno. Little Red Riding Hood already has a lot of sexual overtones, so the trick was to give it a modern edge. So you take the simple story of a girl that has to take a package to grandma, and along the way she has to deal with stuff in the outside world, like roughnecks and Mr Lobo, who are all trying to take advantage of her. The story repeats and she has to start over and over again to deliver the package to grandma.

What other influences are there in the movie? It’s got this grungy urban feel to it.

The Warriors is definitely one. That’s where you get her battling her way across this hostile territory filled with guys who want to fuck her and other bad people. And Run Lola Run, where you get the story repeating with changes according to her different choices each time. This opens up the story for all kinds of different sexual encounters.

Did you have people in mind for the roles when you wrote it?

Acting is very important. I wanted a girl who could really act …

Act and perform.

Yeah, and Suzie Diamond was great in Red. She is one of the few girls in the business who can really act. Figgy [one of the male performers] was also really good.

Who are the best actresses to work with?

Stacy Silver!

Yeah she’s nice …

And pregnant, by the way.

Didn’t know that. Who’s the dad?

Don’t know, but I don’t think anyone in the business. Oh and Monika from Kill Thrill, my ex. Those are the best.

Upcoming projects, plans for the future?

I’m working on the porno version of the 3 Little Pigs.
